Child-Proofing Your 9 Foot Christmas Tree: Tips and Tricks

For one, you are going to find that you have already made a huge leap in protecting not only your decor, but your toddler as well by choosing a 9 foot artificial Christmas trees. Traditional trees are going to dry out and result in needles falling, if you were to add a toddlers touch to this, you may find yourself cleaning up constantly. Plus, know one wants their toddler discovering the tub of water that the tree is in and deciding it would be a perfect place for their toys! With 9 foot artificial Christmas trees, you are already taking away some of the dangers and temptation.

Secondly, be sure that you are using ornaments that are shatterproof. There are tons of shatterproof ornaments out there that if they were to get knocked from your tree are not going to go into a million pieces if they hit the hard floor. If you are hanging family ornaments that are previous to you, then you may want to consider putting these on a shelf to display so that they can still be seen, but are high enough out of reach from your toddler.

Last of all, be sure that you are placing your artificial tree properly. If you leave this out in the middle of a  room, it is more likely to get knocked over by your toddler or other family members. You want to put this into a corner. This way if the tree were to get moved by your toddler, chances are given the corner location is not going to completely fall over and get damaged. In addition, you may consider putting a barricade around the tree and using the corner of the wall as part of this. Many parents find that if they put a child proof gate around the tree that this helps the toddler to keep out of trouble. The toddler can still view the pretty tree, but they cannot get access to it.
